Kia ora, I'm Naera

I’m a Māori photographer based in Tauranga.
What draws me to photography is connection, whakapapa, lived experience, and the quiet moments that often mean more as time passes.
I care deeply about photographing people and stories in a way that feels honest, respectful, and true to them. I aim to uphold the mana of every person, place, and moment I photograph.
My mahi is for our future - preserving feelings and memories for future generations to look back on with pride in who they are and where they come from

Photography is like poetry, only visual. There are so many stories and meanings one picture can portray, it all depends on who's looking at the photo and whether they are paying enough attention.
